November 8th,
With both Mayfly and myself being sick, we took it easy for a while. In this bit of time off, I realized that Mayfly is pretty darn smart. Crazy smart. She again didn't want to be caught, but I had her haltered within two minutes. She didn't pull back at all while tied. Led through barn to round pen and she only briefly hesitated at the barn door. She did better than most of the dude horses.
We need to work on slowing down and walking while doing direct and drive. She did much better at not stopping on top of me. She did great with the rope, even with me swinging it over her head and over her body. Did well with flag and saddle pad. Got nervous about snowmobiles starting and running, but did ok once put into a trot to redirect her energy. Wanted to come into me for comfort a few times, but instead was asked to work. No problem wearing saddle blanket. Better at backing off.
Future Goals: Rope around Cinch
Bridle
Flag from above/fence
Saddle
November 11th,
Rope around cinch. Did wonderfully for the cold icky weather. Jumped and leaned weight on back. Flagged from above. Very good reactions.
November 13th,
Somewhat easy to catch. Great on tie area for grooming. No pawing. Went to roundpen through barn. Reviewed briefly. Great with flag, lunging, and rope on cinch. Good with saddle pad at halt and walk. Put saddle on and off from both sides. Did very well. Cinched up and did great. First trot under saddle she humped up to the right, but settled right away. Did well with jumping game and work from fence. Put some weight in stirrups and she did great. Just raised her head a bit.
Future Goals: Bridle-Ground drive
